Mindfulness treatment of shoulder pain
Pain is an extremely complex bio-psycho-social phenomenon. We know that the perception of pain is much more involved than just the level injury to the body. The data is clear that mindfulness based therapy does improve pain. I and my collaborators at the Bone Outcomes Study are currently studying the use of a brain sensing headband that acts as a personal meditation assistant known as the Muse in the treatment of shoulder and musculoskeletal pain.
As part of my Disappointing Shoulder Program, I implement a variety of treatments to achieve lasting improvement in my patients.
